Do you ever get stuck with coloring? I don’t know if it’s cause i don’t plan far enough or what but i seem to lose my way as soon as it’s time to dive into color and so i usually just give up.

oh absolutely! for me it kinda comes and goes in phases...i think when i'm in a more painterly phase, colors come a lot more naturally to me, but then when i'm in more of a line art / drafty phase, i really struggle to find a way to color it that feels satisfying, but also doesn't detract from the lines i already made. there's nothing wrong with sticking to just black and white, or a really limited (2/3 color) color scheme! for a long time i was insecure about any of my work that didn't have color (tbh i still get that way sometimes), but if a piece feels complete without color, then it doesn't need it! of course, if you want to include color in your work, then it takes a lot of trial and error (and coloring things, even if you don't like the finished result, just to gain more practice in it). i find looking at other work (especially paintings) helpful in guiding my colors when i'm unsure what to do, so studying other people's work can be a good way to practice :)

Recently noticed that a few others at Hotel OJ have made some tumblr blogs, so I decided to as well! Welcome to my blog, all :)
